Paper wasp nest under an eave

Know the enemy

The growing season never really ends — for nests either

The region's long warmth gives wasp colonies a massive head start: paper wasp nests multiply around eaves and verandahs, and European wasps build hidden colonies in wall cavities and in the ground that can reach startling sizes by season's end. Outdoor-living households collide with them constantly — around pools, BBQs, fruit trees and sheds.

Bees are a different matter, treated with the respect a farming and flowering region owes its pollinators: where a swarm or hive can be saved and relocated, that comes first. Wasps get no such courtesy — just safe, decisive removal by someone in the right gear.

Did you know?

European wasps love meat and sweet drinks — if wasps are crashing your BBQ, they're likely Europeans with a hidden nest nearby, often in the ground or a wall cavity. Finding that nest is the job; swatting the scouts is just cardio.

How we handle wasps and bees

Identify first, then act — with full gear, proper products and pollinators protected.

A Pesthelp technician walking a customer through the treatment plan
1

Identify and locate

Paper wasps, European wasps and bees each demand a different response. We track the traffic back to every nest — including the hidden ground and cavity nests Europeans favour.

2

Remove or treat safely

Full protective equipment and professional products, with nests physically removed where practical — no ladder heroics, no stung bystanders.

3

Bees: relocation first

In a region of macadamia farms and flowering gardens, bees matter. Where a hive or swarm can be relocated, that's the path before treatment is even discussed.

4

Discourage the rebuild

Wasps re-nest in proven spots — we treat the favoured surfaces and tell you what to watch for when the next season's queens go scouting.

Frequently asked questions

Wasps keep buzzing the pool and BBQ but I can't see a nest — can you help?

Yes — persistent wasp traffic means a nest in range, frequently hidden in the ground, a retaining wall or a cavity. Locating hidden nests is the core of the job, and treating the nest is the only fix that lasts.

There's a bee swarm on my property — will you kill them?

Not if it can be helped. Swarms are usually resting in transit and often move on within days; where intervention is needed, relocation comes first. We'll talk you through the options honestly — this region's bees earn their keep.

Can't I just deal with the nest myself at night?

Please don't — disturbed nests defend aggressively, wasps sting repeatedly, and multiple stings are a hospital trip. Every summer the DIY approach fills emergency rooms. This is genuinely a protective-gear job.

How quickly is the area safe after treatment?

Nest activity typically collapses within 24 hours, and your technician will confirm when the area's yours again — usually well before the weekend BBQ.
