Know the enemy
Solar country is pigeon country
Few regions have embraced rooftop solar like the Northern Rivers, and the birds have noticed: the warm, sheltered gap beneath panels is a five-star nesting site for feral pigeons, safe from weather and predators. Once a pair settles, the colony grows — droppings streak the roof and panels, nests block airflow and gutters, and bird lice follow the nests indoors.
Indian mynas bring their own trouble around eaves and sheds, muscling out native birds as they go. The fix in every case is exclusion: clean up, proof the nesting spots, and make the roof physically unavailable — deterrents and plastic owls need not apply.
Did you know?
Droppings and nest debris under solar panels don't just look bad — they trap heat and block airflow, dragging down the output of the system you bought to save money. Proofing the panels protects the investment twice over.

How we solve bird problems
Exclusion, not deterrence — birds can't nest where they physically can't reach.

Species check first
Feral pigeons and mynas can be controlled; the region's abundant natives are protected. We confirm what's nesting before anything is touched — non-negotiable in a region this rich in birdlife.
Solar panel proofing
Mesh skirting clipped around the panel perimeter — no drilling, no warranty impact, airflow preserved — permanently closing the region's most popular nesting gap.
Roofs, eaves and sheds excluded
Mesh, spikes and sealing on ledges, gutter lines, eave gaps and shed beams, so roosting and nesting simply stop being possible.
Clean-up and sanitising
Old nests, droppings and debris removed and the area sanitised — ending the lice problem before it migrates indoors, and stopping the corrosion droppings cause.

Frequently asked questions
Will proofing damage my solar panels or void the warranty?
No — the mesh clips to the panel edges without drilling or touching the electrics, and airflow underneath is preserved. It's the industry-standard fix, and the only permanent one for under-panel nesting.
Do you handle rural sheds and machinery barns?
Yes — pigeons roosting over machinery, feed and workspaces are a regular job up here. Beams, ledges and entry gaps get excluded, and the mess gets cleaned up properly.
The birds nesting in my eaves might be natives — what then?
Then we tell you honestly what they are and what the law allows. With natives it's usually about timing — waiting for fledglings to leave, then sealing the entry so next season's nest goes in a tree instead.
Why not just scare them off?
Because it doesn't last — birds habituate to owls, reflectors and noise within days. Physical exclusion is the only approach with permanent results, which is why it's what commercial sites use.
