Is it definitely a possum and not rats?
The sound tells the story: possums are heavy, slow walkers, loudest just after dusk and before dawn, sometimes with hissing or coughing calls. Rats are light, fast and scratchy through the night. We confirm with a roof void inspection either way — and treat accordingly, since the fixes are completely different.
Can't you just relocate it far away?
No — NSW law protects possums, and relocating them far from their territory is both illegal and usually fatal for the animal. The compliant fix is humane removal plus sealing your roof, and it's also the fix that actually works long-term.
How do you make sure it doesn't come back?
The sealing is everything. A possum that can't get back in gives up and stays in the trees, and the entry points we close also keep out the next possum, plus rats and birds for good measure.
How fast can you get it out?
Most jobs are resolved within days — the possum leaves through a one-way system or trap, and once we've confirmed the roof is empty, we seal it the same visit wherever possible.
